Check Engine light on my 02 Camry V6 - CoolDeals.ca

It appears that my check engine light goes on and off on my 02 Camry V6 with 180K on it. My Dad said he filled some gas and it happened afterwords. The dealer checked the gas cap and said if it drives fine it may be a loose cap, and it would cost $100 to diagnose.I guess I have 2 questions:- Can a loose gas cap cause the light to go on and off? - How much does an OBD II scanner go for?I figure if the cost of the scanner is under the cost to check, it may be worth it (There was one for $60 I think at Crappy Tire not too long ago).I will take the car for a spin tomorrow to see if I detect anything and if the light goes off after taking a nice long drive.Any thoughts?
