Thumbs up resale price of car imported from US?

I'm negotiating the price of a 2002 Audi TT which was previously imported from the US. The current price of similar cars on cars.com is US$12500, which works out to $14100 after exchange, RIV, duty and air conditioning tax.The seller feels that he ought to get the current Canadian-market price for his imported car, which he sees as $20 000. I think the legitimate price is $14 100, which is what I can get similar cars for within a 3 hour drive. What do you think?
