Thumbs up Attn: Auto sales reps!

Hi everyone, I'm on the hunt to purchase a new vehicle and I have noticed that some dealerships offer a discount for students how have graduated or will soon be graduating. The details say that you must have a copy of the official transcript OR if you haven't graduated yet (and will be in the next year or so) all you need is a letter from the registrar's office of your university/college.So my question is, I'm graduating 1.5 years from now-which is too far from now for it to be eligible for the new grad discount. I was wondering if anyone knew how STRICT they are with those registrar's letters. For example, do they go to the extent of calling the university in order to confirm it? Or can we just make up a letter (with letterhead etc...) and that would suffice? I mean, the savings is about $500! Any advice would be appreciated!
