VW Incentives/Rebates?
Does anyone know when VW will be offering competitive incentives/rebates (if at all)? Ford is presently offering $2500 back, or 0% APR financing over 48 months. By contrast, VW is offering next to nothing - 1.9% over 48 months, or 2.9% over 60 months. Unless you're purchasing the vehicle with cash, that's it. This applies to 2011 stock, too.I absolutely love the 2012 Golf, but I'm having a difficult time justifying the cost. The Golf has one of the highest base prices in its class, a rather poor fuel economy rating, and few standard features compared to the competition. Combined with the near non-existent incentives/rebates, I'm starting to doubt whether this car is worth it. For example, to equip the Golf with features similar to the SEL or Titanium Ford Focus, you're looking at about $30k on the road (2-3% above invoice), which is about $4k more expensive. That seems wildly excessive for a compact car. This will be my first car (sort of), so I want to keep the price within reason. I was tentatively aiming for $25k on the road, and while that number is a bit flexible, $30k strikes me as a bit much. Hell, I could probably get a gently used Audi for half that cost. I'm starting to ramble, so I'll cut to the chase... will this car ever come down in price, or do I have to make an executive decision? For what's supposed to be a "sensible" car, the 2012 Golf sure isn't priced like one.Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.
