Question Warning: HBC Gift Card Empty Balance

Hi Everyone, Just a quick warning - if your HBC gift card suddenly has a balance of zero (when you were pretty sure you had money on it), call any HBC store and have them bump you to their *Loss Prevention and Fraud* department. It turns out they had accidentally made a "copy" of my card, so there were 2 gift cards floating out there with the same gift card number (suspicious?). I went to a Zellers and The Bay and no one was able to tell me what I had emptied my gift card on, I called the main HBC Gift Card 1-800 number and they had no idea a "Loss Prevention and Fraud" department existed (they're based in Pennsylvania, go figure). Basically, long story short - if this happens to you, you could definitely ask someone to look up the activity on your GC. But if you're still unconvinced about your supposed "purchase", ask them to bump you to Loss Prevention and Fraud. I had someone from HBC call me regarding my report, and they've sent me a new gift card that I can pick up at my closest HBC location with my "empty" balance reinstated. I shouldn't have had to call 4 different people in order to get this rectified though, but I appreciate how quickly this issue sorted itself out after I found the right person.
