looking to buy skis

I'm a female intermediate skier looking to buy my first pair of skis. I've been renting all this time and think it's time to buy my own equipment. Does it really matter if I demo the skis or not as I don't really see where I can demo skis in Ontario. I'm looking at buying Rosignol Temptation 76 but undecided what length I should get (146 or 156). I've also looked at Salomon Origins violet...Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
