Default Advice about quadriceps tendinitis?

I am going in to see my doctor again, but the story is a few weeks ago my right quad started to feel a "burning" sensation. Sorta like i worked out really hard (i didnt) but more uncomfortable. It progressed into swelling and then i just couldnt bend my knee anymore. Fast forward its been a few weeks and my knee felt pretty normal minus one or two kinks which led me to feel confident in playing some basketball. What a bad move that was, as a day later my knee is all stiff again. I been reading around (and will see my doctor about this as well but wanted some friendly input) and everything says 4-6 weeks of rest should do it with some immobilization. The leg that is hurting is my driving leg, and obviously i need to get to work. I was wondering has anyone else had this before, how did they deal with it and how long did it take to heal up?Usually when i get to a point where i feel no more pain i slowly ease back into doing some sports but it totally back fired on me this time and im dumb founded. I had no pain when i tried playing ball again, but right after it totally burned again. I realize i need to ease back into my sport and its not like i played for hours, i just tried to run around for 5-10 mins with no jumping. Thanks
